What exactly IS therapeutic yoga?

Therapeutic yoga uses the tools of yoga to help individuals facing health challenges find optimal health and wellness and support them on their path to healing. These tools can include:

  • Movement (ranging from gentle to vigorous)
  • Meditation and mindfulness practices
  • Breathing techniques
  • Yoga poses that address specific areas of discomfort or musculoskeletal imbalances

Yoga therapists also have a significant amount of specialized training (I earned a Master of Science graduate degree in Yoga Therapy) and extensive additional training in physiology, anatomy, psychology, and biomedicine.

Private Yoga Rates

Initial Assessment

$150

This 75-minute initial assessment is your first step. This is required for first-time students before we begin working together regularly.

1:1 Yoga Sessions

$100

After the assessment, we’ll begin our work together. I meet with most of my students at a weekly standing appointment (or twice weekly in some cases) to support you in developing a consistent practice.

I recommend committing to at least 3 months to truly experience the effects of a regular, personalized practice.

Frequently asked questions

A lot of my clients are working with a health challenge of some kind, whether it be pain, an injury, recovering from or preparing for surgery, or a chronic health condition.

Some poses might not be suitable for certain bodies, and that’s one of the great things about private yoga: The practices are completely adapted for YOU. They are not one-size-fits-all. We choose practices that are the most beneficial for you.

Of course, always consult your healthcare provider first. If you are currently working with a physical therapist, massage therapist, or other practitioner, I also enjoy connecting with your team to see how I can support and continue your healing.

Yes! Private therapeutic yoga isn’t only for those dealing with health conditions. It’s a holistic practice that can improve your overall well-being.

For example: The physical yoga poses can also enhance your posture, flexibility, strength, and balance, helping you feel more vibrant and energized. Breath techniques and meditation can lower stress levels, boost your relationships, and improve sleep.

For our work together, it’s best if you have a wellness goal of some kind, but it can be anything from working on your balance to relieving stiffness to feeling more at home in your body.

Bottom line: Private yoga is for everyone who wants optimal health and wellness.

Yes, I do. I’ve worked with several couples and mother-daughters. The initial assessment rate would be adjusted to account for the extra preparation involved, but the following sessions would be $100/hour, the same rate as my regular sessions. Please contact me and we can chat about it.

Private yoga is not covered under most insurance plans. However, I do accept FSA and HSA.

Wear something comfortable that allows you to move freely! You don’t a fancy yoga outfit, in fact, some of my students wear their street clothes to our sessions.

Yoga is done barefoot, so be prepared to take your shoes and socks off. But if you have a reason you need to wear shoes (such as neuropathy, a brace, etc), of course we can adapt to whatever you need – no problem!
