7 days in paradise

Taste fresh tropical fruits at breakfast. Feel ocean breezes during your practice. Hear jungle sounds from your balcony. See stars like never before. This is paradise for all your senses.

What you can look forward to…

Group at a yoga retreat doing restorative yoga on a deck overlooking the ocean in Montezuma, Costa Rica.

Lifelong Yoga with a view

Experience twice-daily yoga with Mikah on breathtaking cliff-top decks overlooking the Pacific. Morning sessions energize and awaken the body, while evening practices incorporate gentle somatic movement, restoration, and meditation—creating perfect balance each day.

3 daily farm-to-table meals

Ahhh, the food! Anamaya serves delicious meals using organic, locally-sourced ingredients (many grown on their own farm). They prioritize nutrient-dense “superfoods” and can also accommodate vegetarian and vegan diets. *Also included in your retreat package: A cooking demo from Anamaya’s chef!

Eco-conscious cabinas

Enjoy the beauty of the rainforest and ocean views from your private cabina. Built with the environment in mind (using non-toxic materials, organic fabrics, and supporting local artisans), each room features air conditioning, a ceiling fan, and organic cotton or bamboo sheets.

Free time for exploration or relaxation

Anamaya Resort has a private trail to the famous Montezuma waterfalls. We’re also just a short cab ride away (or 20-minute walk) from downtown Montezuma, which is a cute hippie town right on the beach. I’ve arranged the schedule to leave plenty of free time in the afternoons to use as you’d like!

Sauna, saltwater infinity pool, spa options

Recharge with complimentary access to the sauna, ice plunge, and stunning saltwater infinity pool overlooking the Pacific. For additional self-care, you can also book massage, holistic therapies, and beauty treatments for an extra fee during your stay—the perfect complement to your daily yoga.

Sunset Bioluminescence Boat TOur

Experience the magic of bioluminescent plankton! During this excursion (included in your package), we’ll go on a boat trip to a beach, explore the reefs, watch the sunset and enjoy fresh local fruit. When the time has come, we will go to the boat to enjoy the most beautiful phenomenon of nature, The Bioluminescence!

Returning to where it all began

You might be surprised to hear that a lot of the photos on this page were actually taken by me, Mikah – from the time I spent training to be a yoga teacher at Anamaya Resort in 2016.

It’s hard to describe how wonderful and honestly, life-changing those 5 weeks turned out to be. The sights, sounds, and rhythms of Anamaya stayed with me long after I left – from morning yoga with ocean breezes to meals filled with laughter and connection.

While my teaching style has evolved over the years, Anamaya is where my deeper yoga journey began. The magic of practicing in that setting—with nature all around—sparked something that continues to inspire my approach today.

For years, I’ve dreamed of returning to share this special place with my students. Now, I’m thrilled (and grateful) to have the opportunity to guide you through a week of practice in this magical setting where my own yoga journey deepened.

I can’t wait to see how this place might touch your life, just as it did mine. The beauty of Anamaya isn’t just in its stunning views or delicious food – it’s in the way it creates space for reflection, growth, and genuine connection.

Nourish your body

Anamaya means “health” or “disease free,” and their restaurant is dedicated to creating tasty, healthy meals that their genius chef and staff dream up. They have a fixed menu offering different breakfasts, lunches & dinners each day. Almost all of their food is local and organic, with a lot of it coming directly from their own farm.

Many a guest has said they came for the views, but left dreaming about the food.

*Breakfast, lunch, and dinner is included in your retreat package, PLUS: A special cooking demo from Anamaya’s chef! Learn to cook Costa Rican food Anamaya style.

DOMESTIC FLIGHT & SHUTTLE: This is the fastest and easiest way to get to Anamaya Resort. Purchase your own international roundtrip flights to San Jose (SJO). Then take a domestic flight (Sansa or Green Airways) to the local Cobano Airport. From there, a shuttle will pick you up and bring you to Anamaya (a 15-20 minute drive).

If you’d prefer to avoid the domestic flight, there’s a shuttle and ferry option from San Jose or Liberia that takes about 5 1/2 hours.

*Ground transportation to and from Cobano Airport is included in your retreat package. Any other method of arrival (such as the shuttle and ferry from SJO) is not included.

Both the coordinator at Anamaya and I (Mikah) are here to make your travel as smooth as possible. I will suggest flights and Anamaya will take care of arranging your ground transportation so you don’t have to worry about any of the details. Please reach out to Mikah if you have any questions or concerns.

All deposits and payments are non-refundable and non-transferrable. Please be sure to read the Yoga Retreat Contract for our full Cancellation Policy. Since the resort and third party vendors are paid in advance, we must adhere strictly to this policy.

Travel insurance is not included and highly recommended. You are responsible for purchasing your own travel insurance policy for the retreat, all corresponding travel expenses, and medical care abroad. If you cancel due to unforeseen illness or personal or family emergency before or during the retreat (including COVID 19, pregnancy, surgery or injury), miss part of the retreat due to travel delays, lose luggage or have a delayed luggage, or require medical care abroad, we cannot reimburse you, however your personal travel insurance policy typically can.

Please note many travel insurance companies require you to purchase a policy within 14-21 days of any initial deposit for the trip.

The property is not handicap accessible. Mobility to walk up and down stairs and walk on uneven terrain is required.

Though Mikah’s yoga classes are accessible to all levels, please note and understand the physical nature of this trip.

That said, the following cabinas are closer to the main house where the pool, the dining area, and the main yoga deck are (meaning less going up and down stairs overall): Bali Cabina, Jungle Cabina, Prana Cabina, Lotus Cabina.

Sample daily schedule

The schedule is still being finalized, but here’s a sample of what our week will look like. All activities (including yoga classes) are completely optional—your time is truly your own.

During free time, you can choose adventure or relaxation. Explore the town, walk to the waterfalls, book other Costa Rican excursions through the resort, enjoy the complementary infinity pool, sauna, and ice plunge, schedule spa treatments, or simply relax with a book in a hammock.

This retreat is about finding what nourishes you, whether that’s adventurous exploration or peaceful downtime.

I don’t even know how to begin… From pulling up on the property, to a view so breathtaking it brought tears to my eyes to the beauty of the property at every corner… Anamaya is truly a slice of heaven on earth. Taking an outdoor shower with a view of the ocean and monkeys swinging from the trees was an experience I will never forget.

This is one of the most magical places on the planet. The views are second to none with a 270 degree panoramic look at miles of jungle and ocean. The food is healthy, fresh, and almost all of it comes from their permaculture farm. Lastly, the staff is so personable that they will instantly welcome you as their family. This place has truly changed my outlook on life and helped me find myself again.

Anamaya is hands down one of the most amazing and magical places ever. I felt 100% safe and cared for the entire time by the wonderful people who are the staff here. The views are absolutely incredible. Looking up during yoga to see the jungle and the ocean was a moving experience in itself. My heart will be longing for that yoga deck for the rest of my days.

Your questions answered…

May is my favorite time of the year to travel to Costa Rica! It’s right in-between the “High” season (dry) and the “Green” season (rainy), so while there are some afternoon showers, the sun still shines, and everything is green and lush. The temperature stays at about 75 to 85 degrees all year round. It’s very nice weather, but it can be humid, especially down by the beach. Anamaya Resort is 400 feet up on a cliff so is drier and has a nice breeze all year.

Yes. Anamaya is nestled in a tropical jungle where nature isn’t just nearby—it’s all around you. This is authentic Costa Rica, and that means sharing space with its wildlife residents.

You’ll see geckos—these helpful little friends keep the bug population down. There will be butterflies, moths, and yes, some mosquitos, so bringing bug repellent is definitely recommended.

You might also spot monkeys, coate, lizards, parrots, toucans and other exotic jungle birds. One of the most magical experiences I had during my time at Anamaya was practicing yoga while monkeys played in the trees near our yoga deck!

Anamaya Resort is located on a cliff edge above the small beach town of Montezuma. It’s only a 5-minute drive to town and the beaches. You can walk down in about 20 minutes but walking back up the hill can be a great workout as it’s uphill. You can also take a taxi back for $10.

There are two grocery stores in Montezuma, and several clothing & gift shops.

As for the beaches, the closest beach is in Montezuma. You can also walk to Playa Las Manchas, which is a very beautiful spot. That’s about 7 minutes by car or 30 minutes on foot. Playa Los Cedros, the famous Montezuma/Cabuya surf spot, is 9 minutes by car. The beaches of Santa Teresa/Mal Pais are approximately 45 minutes by car.

Costa Rica is a very safe place. Just like anywhere else there can be cases of petty crimes, especially thefts of backpacks left in cars, or valuables left unguarded on the beach. Generally, Costa Rica is the safest country in Central America.

Absolutely! A number of people are planning to come without a partner, friend, or family member. There will be plenty of opportunity to connect with others. We have a few single cabinas available and also a “dorm” style room (Casita) that’s booked by the bed (a more economical option if you don’t mind sharing your space and meeting new friends).

Also, If you’re traveling alone but interested in a double or triple room, I can do my best to pair you with someone else looking. Let me know if this option interests you.

Men are absolutely welcome. If a wellness retreat is something your husband would enjoy, we’d love to have him.

It would be best if your husband likes (or would be willing to try) yoga, but if not, that’s fine. All activities are 100% optional. Beyond the yoga classes, there is also an infinity pool and a sauna, a hiking trail down to a river featuring three waterfalls and wading pools, a charming beach town (Montezuma) with restaurants, bars, and craftspeople, and a number of excursions available to book, from surfing to wildlife preserve tours to snorkeling and zip-lining.

Yes! Anamaya’s gift shop offers a selection of Costa Rican wines and domestic beers, and a craft brewpub offering cold six packs is a short walk from the resort. You can also purchase wine and spirits from the grocery store in Montezuma.

Costa Rica uses the same outlets as the US, and every room has AC and electric outlets for charging your tech. There are no TVs in the rooms or the public spaces. There is wifi throughout the resort.

I recommend bringing the following:

  • Passport (you need a valid passport for at least 6 months before the expiration date to enter Costa Rica)
  • Natural sunscreen
  • Aloe vera
  • Natural bug repellent
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Rain jacket
  • Hiking shoes or sandals
  • Flip flops and swimsuit
  • A small flashlight or headlamp with extra batteries. Or your cell phone might do the trick!
  • Beach towel and/or sarong
  • You can bring your own yoga mat if you like, but the resort does provide high-quality mats, straps, blocks, and other props.
  • Personal first-aid kit: Benadryl or allergy anti-itch cream, Neosporin or triple antibiotic cream, Tylenol and/or ibuprofen, probiotics
  • Health care items and/or feminine products
  • Earplugs (in case you have a roommate that snores)
  • Eyemask (if you are in a shared room)

Anamaya does offer laundry service. This is done on-site by their housekeeping team. It’s a 24 hour turn around, costs $6 + tax for a medium sized load, but this fee could change depending on the amount of clothes.

A non-refundable deposit of $850 is required for booking. A split deposit is available – please reach out to Mikah if this is something that would be helpful.

The remaining total will be split in two payments: Half due on November 9th, 2025, and the remainder on February 9th, 2026.

An invoice for each payment will be sent to your email and you can pay by credit card, Venmo, check, or cash.

You can also choose to pay in full if you prefer.

You can read the full terms & conditions of our Yoga Retreat Contract that you will need to sign and agree to.
