Get Ready for Your Summer of Longevity
Let’s rethink what it means to age well.
Longevity isn’t just about how long we live. It’s about how well we live while we’re here. How steady you feel on your feet, how easily you breathe, how strong your body feels when you get out of bed in the morning or reach for something high on a shelf.
That’s the heart of our upcoming series inside Lifelong Yoga Online, starting Wednesday, July 23.
It’s called Summer of Longevity, and it’s a five-week, live online yoga series designed to help you build a more resilient, capable, and vibrant body—one simple, doable practice at a time.
We’ll move together once a week (with replays available), focusing on five core elements that truly support your health span, not just your lifespan.
Healthspan vs. Lifespan: Why the difference matters
Most of us hope to live a long life…but more than that, we want to feel good while we’re living it.
That’s what healthspan is all about. It’s the number of years you can live independently, move confidently, and enjoy your life without feeling limited by pain, fatigue, or fear of falling.

Because living longer isn’t the goal if you’re spending those years stuck on the sidelines.
The good news? You can influence your healthspan through the small choices you make now—especially when it comes to movement, breath, and body awareness.
Your healthspan is about the number of years you can live independently, move confidently, and enjoy your life without feeling limited by pain, fatigue, or fear of falling.
And that’s exactly what this series is here to support. Here’s what we’re diving into each week:
Week 1: Expand Your Movement Map
What it supports: Mobility, adaptability, confidence
Most of us move in the same patterns every day, and over time, our brains forget the other ways we can move. That’s where your “movement map” comes in. It’s your brain’s internal blueprint of how your body moves through space.
In this class, we gently explore new movement patterns to help:
- Improve mobility in joints that feel stiff or “rusty”
- Boost neuroplasticity—your brain’s ability to adapt and rewire
- Enhance coordination and balance
This isn’t about fancy poses. It’s about moving through your full range of motion and giving your brain and body new information so that everyday movement feels easier and more natural.

Week 2: Transitions with Confidence
What it supports: Leg strength, independence, everyday function
Being able to get up and down from the floor (or even from a chair) is one of the strongest indicators of longevity and independence as we age. And yet, most of us don’t practice it…until we realize it’s become a problem.
In this class, we’ll explore ways to:
- Safely strengthen your legs and hips
- Practice getting up and down with different strategies
- Build the kind of strength and coordination that helps you stay independent
You don’t need to “master” the floor. You just need to keep the skill—and confidence—alive.

Week 3: Breathe and Align
What it supports: Posture and opening up the breath
Breathing and posture are deeply connected. When you slouch, your lungs have less room to expand. When your breath is shallow, your nervous system stays on high alert.
Over time, this can contribute to fatigue, brain fog, and even balance issues.
This class brings it back to basics:
- Gentle movement to open the ribcage
- Breath practices to support energy and clarity
- Simple alignment cues to help you feel taller and more at ease
There’s no “perfect” posture—but learning to align with awareness can make a world of difference in how your body feels and functions.

Week 4: Strong and Steady
What it supports: Functional strength, balance, joint stability
Muscle mass and bone density naturally decline with age, but the good news is that small, consistent strength work helps slow—and even reverse—those changes.
This class focuses on real-life strength and stability, using:
- Resistance bands for joint-friendly strengthening
- Foot-to-core activation for grounded movement
Balance practices you can apply to daily life
This isn’t about pushing or performing. It’s about building strength that actually supports the way you move through the world.

Week 5: This Is Longevity
What it supports: Integration, confidence, joy
Our final class brings it all together.
We’ll revisit the themes from each week with an integrated, grounding practice that helps you notice what’s shifted…physically, yes, but also in how you relate to your body.
Longevity isn’t a destination. It’s a way of showing up for yourself now, with care and intention.

You don’t need to be 25 again. You just need to start where you are.
If you’ve been feeling stiff, a little unsteady, or unsure where to start with movement that actually supports you, then this series is for you.
Longevity isn’t about chasing the body that you had 20 years ago, and it’s also not about fearing what the next 20 years might bring.
It’s about showing up for the body that you have today and giving it the care, attention, and movement it needs to support the life that you want to keep living.
